Thursday 21-11 - Scenery and Historic Buildings

A late start to touring today, so a walk along the beach and then a quick dip in the pool. We're moving on today so it is farewell to our beach side cottage.

The first stop is the Hanapepe Valley lookout. Lovely view. We then follow a scenic byway in the old Sugar town of Koloa, with a Buddhist temple and a Catholic Church as the first two points of interest. We have a look through the old buildings of Koloa which are a mixture of eateries, up market tourist shops, tour operators or the usual run-of-the-mill tourist junk shops. After lunch we visit the beach at Hanakaape Bay where Monk Seals come ashore. We didn't see a seal but did get to see a basking Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. A visit to an old Hawaiian temple plus a memorial garden with another temple finished off our day. Staying at Koloa near the beach for the next couple of days. Another very interesting day.
