Monday 18-11 - Mixed Bag

Yes the rain was still hanging around this morning, but as lunch neared the blue sky appeared and we had a lovely afternoon.

Our morning starts with a waterfall, the Wailua Falls. Who can go past a good waterfall ... and here is where the rain is actually a good thing. Our next stop is an old Hawaiian temple where human sacrifices were done plus on the other hand Royal births occurred. A place with many rituals. Also a Japanese cemetery. Then another waterfall, the Opaekaa Falls. Made special because of the rain and  a great view over the river valley on the other side of the road.

Next we visit a Hindu temple. Very hard to park as there is a ceremony occurring. Never fear we find a place and then wander around. A very tranquil area. We go in search of the sacred forest, we miss it first time but find it on the way back.

Later in the afternoon we have a boat ride to a fern grotto. A very picturesque place and again there is a spring waterfall.

A diverse day in a very nice place, though the traffic has a lot to be desired. They are digging out drains for the upcoming rainy season so delays have to be expected. Even paradise has it's maintenance requirements!!
