Sunday 8-12 - Back to where we started on Maui

This morning we have a walk around Lahaina. It is a historic town and one of America's designated Main Street towns, the main shops all being along Front Street which hugs the bay. There was a fire in 1919 which did a lot of damage so most of the buildings date from them. It has a nice feel about it and views across the bay to Lanai and Moloka‘i.

After our walk we make our way back to Silva, (our Nissan Sentra) and continue our loop drive of the north-western side of the island. There is a definite change of scenery when we get to the resorts; golf courses, up-market shops, gated communities, entry statements galore. Then we are back out in the country. Some spots the surfers are out in force catching some nice waves.

The road is narrow in some spots but our trusty driver Mr. Davis does a good job in the convoy of cars. We get some great coastal views as well as the odd green valley view.

We arrive at Kahului for the evening. A cruise ship sits across the way from us. We enjoy a beer as the sun goes down. Another day where the scenery just blows you away with its diversity.
